CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

DECOR

There’s only five more days until Santa!! I hope all of you are finishing up the last of your shopping, wrapping and baking so you can relax and enjoy the actual holiday. Personally, I can’t wait for that moment!! In today’s blog post, I’m sharing the Christmas decorations that I have inside my home this season.

After having my last Christmas tree for seven years, it finally had to be retired. None of the lights were working anymore and I wanted to start fresh with a flocked tree for our family room. While I was at it, I decided to get a second slimmer tree for another room because I’ve been dying to do an all-white look to go with my mantel. I had heard great things about a company called King of Christmas and once I saw their trees, I was in love. All of their trees, garland and wreaths are really good quality for much more affordable prices than other high-end retailers. My last tree was gorgeous, but almost triple the price and definitely not worth the extra cost once I saw these! If you like flocking, these are the best because they are heavily flocked… they literally look like trees that have just been snowed on!

My first space pictured below is our fireplace room that’s connected to our kitchen. It’s a really small area and I like to keep the décor neutral. You’ll see in the photos that everything is white or metallic. This is the room where I decided to add a second tree and I’m so glad I did. This tree is the “slim” version and is 6.5 feet tall, linked here. It makes the space so much cozier now when sitting by the fire. I’ve included the sources for as much as I could, but if the original items were no longer available, I linked similar items (please open this post in your browser so you can see the shopping widgets). All of the ribbon on the tree and half of the ornaments are from Michaels. I also got a great deal on some beautiful ornaments from Costco.

In the foyer area of our house near the staircase, I have two sentimental spots of décor. The first is a Christmas village started by my Mom a couple years ago, for my two boys. Each year, she purchases a new piece to add to the village and the boys just adore this tradition! They love turning it on each and every night. Next year, I will need a new spot to display them because this table is maxed out (hahaha)! TIP: I bought the faux snow at Michaels, and hidden underneath are shoe boxes to give the village some height variation.

So far in our collection, we have a ski lodge, Grandma’s house, toy store, fire station, ferris wheel (which lights up, spins around & has sound), and the popcorn maker (which also lights up while popping). Our brand is St. Nicholas Square and we usually purchase them at Kohls and Amazon. Almost everything is sold out at this point, but I wanted to share because I think it’s such a cute tradition to have with kids. Next year, I will post this and link all the 2019 versions early in the fall when everything is fully stocked!

Next, I have all of our stockings hung on the staircase. This is our main room for Christmas morning and there’s no fireplace here, so the staircase is where they live! I’ve had these stockings from Pottery Barn Kids for eight years and they still make them, which is awesome. When Grayson was born, I was able to easily add his and still have it match the rest of the collection. We also had one for our dog, Brasco, but this is the first year it’s not hung because he sadly passed away. Again, a lot of these are sold out, but the ones that are still available are on sale for only $12!

Lastly, is our main family room. This is where I have a more traditional tree with our special family ornaments and whimsical, fun décor. This tree is the full-size version of the one in the other room, and also stands a bit higher at 7.5 feet, linked here. Our tradition every year is to have the kids decorate this one. Then, being the OCD Mom that I am, I go back through and rescue any fragile ornaments found hanging by a thread (haha), and also add the ribbon. The kids are very proud of this tree and I often catch all of us just staring at the ornaments from years past. The memories are priceless and I love that we get to relive them every holiday season.

Please share in the comments what some of your favorite holiday decoration traditions are. I’m always looking for new and fun ideas! If I’m not back on here before the big day, I want to wish a Merry Christmas to all of you. Hope you have a safe and festive holiday with your loved ones!

Thanks so much for reading and sharing, and for your support all year long! xoxo, JB

I love the white tree! That’s a good idea doing a second one. I have to remember that for next year!
