ELF ON THE SHELF IDEAS

PARENTHOOD

Tomorrow is December 1st and that only means one thing in our house: the famous Scooter Jingles returns! My kids have been crossing off the days on their calendars and are ecstatic to see their buddy from the North Pole again. I, on the other hand, am feeling the stress and pressure of our Elf on the Shelf. Are any of you feeling this way too? As if parenthood isn’t hard enough, we now have this extra child to manage doing the holidays… am I right?! Today’s post is to help provide Elf on the Shelf ideas and inspiration for all of the parents out there living the late-night elf life like I am. We’re all in this together!

First, I just briefly want to provide a little background on our elf, Scooter Jingles. Everyone always adores his name and we actually have my oldest son, Sawyer to thank for that. When he was just a toddler he was obsessed with his three-wheeled scooter and wanted to name the elf after that. After we read the Elf on the Shelf book together, he added the “Jingles” to his name because he thought it sounded more like Christmas. And with that, our elf was officially born.

As I’m sure is the case in most households, the elf started out as a modern holiday necessity and then quickly turned into an annoyance (hahaha)! At some point during our third year I randomly started producing little vignettes for the elf each night and it became a way for me to creatively express myself. Fast forward to last year when my little elf started grabbing serious attention on Instagram and was featured on various social media sites. Before I knew it, Scooter Jingles was growing a little fan base and even made the morning news on the CBS station in Los Angeles. Click the link below to see the video!

The point of all of this elf business is for my boys to have fun, but I’m so glad that it also provides fun and amusement for adults too. If you ask me, we can never have enough happy and light-hearted entertainment in today’s tough world. So please enjoy some of my favorite Scooter Jingles elf capades below!

I hope you enjoyed all of these Elf on the Shelf ideas. I’d love for you to give me a follow on my new Pinterest account where I’ll be posting more elf photos, in addition to recipes, home décor and fashion. If you have any friends that also deal with the elf struggle, please forward this post onto them too!

Thanks so much for reading and sharing! xoxo, JB
