Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a place your kids could go make a huge, creative mess and you wouldn’t have to clean any of it up? Well, there’s a new art studio in town where they can do just that, and learn at the same time! Last week, my two boys and their friends had the opportunity to try a private art class at Fauves Studio here in Westlake Village, California and paint their little hearts out. Today, I’m sharing all the photos from our lively and colorful experience!
At Fauves Studio, it’s not just kids having all the fun either. The studio’s motto is, “Art school for all ages and every imagination.” Classes are available for children, teens and adults in both group and private lesson settings. There are also day camps, drop-in studio hours, birthday party packages, and private event options. Rounding out their offerings are adult paint nights where you can bring your own alcoholic beverages and snacks while learning how to paint a masterpiece from a professional.
Elena Avanesova is the founder of Fauves Studio and a classically-trained artist who’s been teaching students for more than two decades. During the kids’ private art class, Elena and two other employees helped to instruct (and wrangle) eight children, which I thought was a great ratio. She taught them the techniques of Jackson Pollock and then helped guide them with their own interpretations and masterpieces. There are many other artist and painting style options to choose from as well. During the course of one hour, the kids completed 3-5 different projects, depending on the child.
At the end of the session, the kids had extra fun painting their hands to leave handprints on the Fauves Studio wall, which they LOVED! Bonus for parents: there are multiple sinks and the workers help all the children wash the paint off their hands and feet, so cleanup at home is minimal, except for their clothes of course!
My boys had a wonderful time and would love to go back again, especially for a sit-down art class. If you’re looking for a new birthday party idea, private art lessons, or a much-needed mom’s night out, check out the Fauves Studio website for more details and contact information. Elena is happy to work with you to make any concept a reality. Have fun getting messy!
Thanks so much for reading and sharing!
