Let’s talk Halloween movies!! Nothing puts me into the fall spirit more than cuddling up with my kiddos, sharing a tub of popcorn and watching a “scary” movie. Since my boys are young, ages 5 and 8, they are still easily frightened by many movies. So, I thought maybe some of you might have a similar situation and would appreciate a list of fun, seasonal movies that won’t lead to any nightmares! Here are some of the favorites in our household, in no particular order:
1. Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest
** Ever heard of a “no-noggin’? My boys build one every Halloween because of this movie!
2. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
** This is a sweet and innocent classic for a reason.
3. The Nightmare Before Christmas
** My boys are OBSESSED with this movie and they know all the songs by heart!
4. Hotel Transylvania
** They love the characters in this movie, as well as the two sequels.
5. Room on the Broom
** A short movie that brings to life a beloved Halloween book in our home.
6. Halloween Town (2004)
** There are four movies in this series and the kids really like them.
7. Toy Story of Terror
** The popular Toy Story characters in a Halloween setting is a win!
8. Scared Shrekless
** This is sold as a DVD or can be seen as part of the Dreamworks Spooky Stories compilations on Netflix.
9. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
** Though not technically a Halloween movie, it fits the spooky season anyway!
** Gives us all the Halloween feels with its Day of the Dead festivities!
Hopefully this list will introduce some new favorites for your family to enjoy. Please share in the comments below your most-watched Halloween movies so we can all see some new ideas. Now go grab your popcorn and candy, and settle in for a “not too spooky” movie night with your littles!
