THE FRIDAY FILE || 5 BOOKS ON ENTERTAINING

ENTERTAINING POP CULTURE

Happy Friday, friends! Is it just me or has this holiday week felt simultaneously shorter AND longer?! If you follow me on Instagram then you know I started a feature on my Insta Stories about a month ago called “The Friday File”. Because I have such a love for pop culture and entertainment, my goal is to share with you some of my favorite books, events, music, movies and television shows. The goal is to do a video and/or post at least twice a month, on Fridays, as sort of a review of the previous weeks. So far, all the videos have revolved around current television series that I’m watching and recommending (obviously TV is a fave since I’m a TV Producer). Today I’m changing it up and sharing five of my favorite coffee table books about entertaining.

This gorgeous book just came out recently and I read it cover to cover the first night! Nathan Turner is a well-known decorator and entertaining expert and this book is a masterpiece. It is set up in such a unique way and one section is better than the next! And you don’t have to live in California to love it because the recipes and entertaining details can apply to everyone, living anywhere. I’ve already tested out a few recipes and ideas the past couple weeks and I’ll be sharing them soon on the blog! I LOVE THIS BOOK!

This book is an oldie but a goodie. I’m a huge fan of all Tori Spelling’s books and her past reality shows. I fell in love with her obsessiveness with details, as I am equally crazy in this way (hahaha)!! Her DIY sensibilities are also something that I respect. She provides very clear-cut plans and inspiration for parties, from conception of the idea through to the final product.

This book was released last October by model, actress and blogger Molly Sims. In addition to the entertaining guidance, this book also dives into family life, decorating, and home organization (speaks to the OCD in me…hahaha). She is also very upfront about the fact that she has a team of experts that help her and they subsequently all share personal tips and tricks of their trades, which I love.

This is the only book out of the five that I don’t already own. It was released about two years ago, and I’ve read through some of it at a friend’s house. This is my next purchase because I love Lauren Conrad’s style. All of her Instagram accounts and website content are swoon-worthy and this book is no different!

Darcy Miller is a celebrations expert and has worked with Martha Stewart for over 20 years. This book is so beautiful and inspiring! What I really love is how many creative ideas she gives for children’ parties. I reference this book constantly. All of these books make perfect gifts for any “hostess with the mostest” in your life!

Each of these books offers different things, and each author a different style. But they all have a few things in common: they provide endless inspiration and guidance, are beautiful reference materials, and look great on a coffee table! Please let me know in the comments below if you have a go-to entertaining book that you love… I’m always on the hunt.  Have a great weekend!

Thanks for reading! xoxo, JB
